OPERA A LA CARTE

presents

“LA TRAVIATA “ By Verdi

Under canvas in a 1930’s setting…...

Tailormade Ireland is delighted to have the opportunity to invite groups to this special event due to take place at two different locations during June and July 2005.

This is Garden Opera at its best, now in its fifth year running in Ireland, set amongst magical and historic surroundings in “Glyndebourne” style.

The Opera is held under canvas and the audience is captured by the immediate proximity with the performers “in the round”. Vividly decorated with thematic paintings, the canvas is heated and all seats are upholstered.

Nick Heath, Artistic Director, a full-time member of the chorus at the Royal Opera House, Convent Garden, London, is well placed to get hold of the most promising young actor-singers. “The intention is to give people a different feeling every year. But it’s more than just words and music. You have to make it a theatrical experience as well,” says Nick Heath.

The Story
La Traviata – an operatic version of Verdi’s version of La Dame aux Camellias – is a story of the courtesan Violetta and her live-in lover Alfredo whom she is forced to abandon so his family’s reputation is not tarnished! The cast includes Caroline Childe as Violetta and Colin Campbell as Giorgio. Michelle Sheridan makes a re-appearance, as does John Milne. Musical accompaniment is provided by a piano and string quartet.

Upon arrival your group will enjoy a private champagne reception and a chance to wander through the gardens before the performance begins.
