Red Deer
In
the extreme northwestern part of Southern Ireland, the Donegal Highlands
were formed by the glacial forces that also sculpted the West Highlands
of Scotland. At the far northeastern end of the Derryveagh Mountains
is a replica of a classic West Highland sporting estate. The experience
of deer stalking in Ireland is like wilderness deer-hunting rather than
formal Scottish stalking.
Sika
The
Kerry region is one of the most beautiful regions to hunt for Sika.
Hunting areas include Muckross, Killarney, Kilgarvan, Kenmare, Black
Valley, Beaufort, Glencar and Killorglin. This little deer of Asian
origin was introduced to Ireland by wealthy landowners and to this day
the number of Sika deer increase continually. You hunt in the company
of a guide, stalking or stand hunting.
